Two Council Schools Hobhouse and Chirovakamwe were badly damaged by a hailstorm.

Hailstorm destroyed 11 classrooms at Chirovakamwe primary school and three at Hobhouse primary school.

The destruction of the roofing materials has affected learning at the two schools.

The disaster has prompted the Minister of Local Government and Public Works Cde July Moyo, who was accompanied by the His Worship the Mayor for the City of Mutare Clr B. Tandi, The Town Clerk Mr. Joshua Maligwa, The Provincial Development Co-ordinator Mr. Edgars Seenza, and other esteemed delegates to tour the affected schools.

The disaster has reignited the Cyclone Idai memories which saw hundreds of people killed with several others displaced.
