The city of Mutare today launched the disinfection of program targeting all public places.
The program was launched at Sakubva Musika, the produce market area and later moved to the Central Business District.
The Mayor Clr B. Tandi, The Town Clerk Mr. J. Maligwa, Deputy Mayor Clr K. Chisango, Clr Mapuwire, Clr Tsoro, Clr Ziweya, Management and representatives from the Mutare Informal Traders Association were all in attendance.
The program started soon after the closure of the produce market, with members engaging in the cleanup exercise before the full-scale disinfection program started.
The city of Mutare received a tone of hydrogen peroxide and the fumigation program involves the use of nap sac spray and a vacuum tanker.
Mayor Clr Tandi said the program is meant to combat the spread of COVID 19 and create a clean environment.
He implored citizens to practice social distance and personal hygiene all the time.
The Town Clerk Mr Joshua Maligwa said the program will move in all the high volume public places.
he indicated that regular fumigation processes will be carried out in all areas.
