The Transformation of Mutare Infectious Disease Hospital is taking shape, the COVID 19 Isolation Centre Unit is almost complete in terms of structural renovations.
The Business Community and the City of Mutare are busy working round the clock to complete the outstanding final works this week.
The Gvt has also come on board and availed financial resources, and work on the total transformation of the entire health facility is now in full swing.
Artisans from the Department of Public Works, The Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services and Police have been roped in and some structures have already been demolished in line with the new designs.
The structural changes involve infrastructure changes in the main -hospital.
The disbursed amount has come at a time when the City of Mutare and the Business Community had already begun the transformation of the MIDR wing.
More resources are required to effectively equip the Health facility with the relevant and modern equipment that befits the isolation center status.
The ICU center requires I.C.U beds, ventilators, and monitors, the laboratory section should be fully equipped.
The main hospital should conform to world health organization and renovations currently being undertaken is addressing the issues.
The structural changes should be augmented by the equipment to ensure that the revamped health facility is fully operational.
This is not a health issue but a community problem that requires a multi-sectoral approach.
